Four Ways to Present News

1 News Release
an announcement of an event, performance, or other newsworthy item written as a news story

2 Media Alert
shorter and more concise than a news release, with bulleted facts to concisely present important information to the reporter. This appears more urgent than a typical news release. However, it is imperative not to cry wolf by using this format too often.

3 Pitch Letter
a persuasive letter that presents information to encourage a reporter to write an article on a particular topic.

4 News Conference
a presentation to a gathering of reporters for new announcements considered to be very important and urgent.
