When to Use the Ohio Arts Council logo
Below is a short list of examples in which the Ohio Arts Council should be recognized in promotional materials and activities. Visit the Contract Summary page for specific requirements.
Dear Arts Colleagues:
We are asking all artists, arts organizations and communities that receive funding through the Ohio Arts Council to demonstrate the public value of the arts by making everyone aware of Ohio Arts Council funding for your projects.
Arts and cultural policies continue to change at the local, state and national levels. The Ohio Arts Council is using a variety of research methods to re-examine and reconsider how we do business. Changing political, economic, demographic and cultural conditions continue to raise concerns for the OAC and our constituents who are engaged in creating, presenting and preserving Ohio's arts and cultural resources. The State of the Arts Report conducted in 2001 demonstrates that while 76.5% of Ohio residents believe that state tax dollars should be used to support arts opportunities, only 28% of those residents realize that state tax dollars are, in fact, being used to support the arts in Ohio. In addition we have realized that it is essential that we understand the public value of our programs within our communities. It's vital that youas artists and arts organizationsgather evidence of public value. Ask participants how they've changed, whether they're different as a result of engagement with your art and with your organization. For more information on public value, visit our Public Value page. We must rely on your help to spread the word about the importance of public support for the arts at the local level.
The Ohio Arts Council's mission as a state agency is to fund and support quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally and economically. Please join us in promoting public understanding of the vital role of the arts in building communities by using our credit logos on all of your materials as outlined in these pages. Your cooperation will benefit all of us.
