The Arts in Education (AIE) Program at the Ohio Arts Council (OAC) provides support for activities that promote the arts as an integral part of education. Program goals are as follows:
Frequently Asked Questions about the Arts in Education Program Arts in Education Program Activities Include: Artist in Residence Program grants enable young people, educators and community members to participate in the creative process with professional artists from all arts disciplines. Arts Education Partnership grants support in-depth collaborative projects between arts organizations and educators including summer arts institutes for teachers and administrators, research and assessment in arts education, curriculum development, institutes and conferences. Arts Basic to Education Planning and Implementation grants help education and arts organizations work with community members to strengthen arts education for students in pre-kindergarten through the 12th grade. Summer Media Institute (SMI) is an innovative summer institute providing professional and personal enrichment in media arts for teachers and administrators through a competitive application process. Workshops include video storytelling, digital imaging, experimental computer animation, photographs with stories, creative writing and critical thinking. SMI is on hiatus for one year. YouthReach Ohio grants support out-of-school, in-depth arts opportunities for young people at risk of not making a successful transition from adolescence to young adulthood.
