The Ohio Arts Council is committed to insuring ADA compliance and we are advocates for full access to the arts. Organizations that receive funding from the OAC must be fully accessible and inclusive to every individual including people with disabilities and older adults. If you are unsure if your organization or facility is in compliance, please contact the ADA coordinator.

The OAC is equally committed to making sure our services are accessible to people with disabilities including artists with disabilities. We work very closely with the statewide service organization VSA arts of Ohio and we use people with disabilities as panelists and as consultants regarding ADA issues.

Artists with Disabilities Access Program

The Ohio Arts Council (OAC) is committed to making the arts accessible to all Ohioans. Accessible buildings or spaces, programs and creative opportunities enrich the artistic experiences of all and enhance a community?s cultural climate. To ensure that Ohio remains a leader in cultural access, the OAC provides funding for artistic development for artists with disabilities.

The Artists with Disabilities Access Program (ADAP) is designed to help artists with disabilities move to a higher level of artistic development. For more information on this program visit the Individual Artist Grant Programs and Services section of the Guidelines.

OAC Web site Accessibility

We hope you will find the OAC's Web site both visually appealing and fully accessible while allowing full and equal access to visitors who are blind or visually impaired who use screen-reading or magnification technology. If you use a text-based browser, a screen reader, a Braille terminal, or any other adaptive device, you should have no difficulty accessing any information on this Web site. If you do encounter any problems, please email the webmaster.

The OAC Website also accommodates online accessibility needs by including "alt tags" on images, which aid users who listen to the content of the site by using a screen reader, rather than reading the site. Site visitors can get information regarding the accessibility of Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files from the Access Adobe Web site.

The Ohio Arts Council is proud that our Web site meets the requirements of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) (Level AA), Bobby and Section 508 (of the Rehabilitation Act) of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998. We are continually working to ensure the accessibility of our site.

We welcome your ideas on how to improve the site's accessibility. Please e-mail the webmaster with your comments.
