BUSINESS SUPPORT OF THE ARTS
The Logan Clay Products Company, Logan

Nominated By: Roberta Bishop

The Logan Clay Products Company has been a generous and committed supporter of artists and the arts for more than half a century. Current president and CEO Dick Holl and his wife, Mary, are inspiring examples of how one small company can find a way to give back to its community and enrich the local, regional and national culture by using the very tools that are part of its trade. The company has been a strong supporter of the arts through workshops, financial contributions and donations of numerous works of art throughout the community. The Pipe Sculpture Workshop has garnered national recognition allowing clay artists from across the country a chance to share ideas, methods and influences. The workshop began more than 20 years ago when Logan Clay entered into a partnership with nationally recognized sculptor Jerry Caplan. Today these workshops give the artists a rare opportunity to work with large quantities of clay, otherwise impossible to manage in the average studio, and to create large scale dramatic pieces. Logan Clay also sponsors an artist-in-residence. The residency provides space, materials and equipment, granting the artist the opportunity to pursue their craft full-time. The Logan Clay Products Company is an invaluable resource to the cultural life of the Hocking Hills region.
